About
An original Play Make-Believe character created and performed by Louise Conaghan.
Created especially for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026, Seanchaí is a striking new street-theatre commission: a spectacular roaming storyteller carrying Ireland's myths, songs and memories through the streets of Belfast.
Somewhere between woman, myth and memory, she is cloaked in layers of repurposed textiles, hidden symbols and curious treasures. Around her, the old stories gather — stitched, layered and alive.
Look closely and you may spot references to Irish legends, blessings and songs, each one ready to spark a tale, a tune, a blessing or a sharp-witted retort.
Strange, nurturing and otherworldly, Seanchaí invites audiences to pause, look closer and encounter Ireland's stories as something living, visible and moving through the city.
On Thurs 6th and Fri 7th Aug at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm
