About
The Mitchells are a musical family from The Loup in County Derry with a rich connection to Irish traditional music, passed down through generations. Brothers Kieran (banjo) and Eamon (fiddle), along with more of their siblings, inherited their passion for music from their late father, John Mitchell and have proudly passed that tradition on to their own children. John along with his late wife Maura, were involved in establishing the Loup CCÉ branch in the early 1970s helping to build a thriving musical community in the south Derry area that continues to grow from strength to strength today. Loup CCÉ successfully hosted the county Derry Fleadh in April this year.
John & Maura's grandchildren, as seen in photo from left to right: Brigeen, Mairéad, Maria, Cormac, Eoin and Alannah, are some of the younger generation now carrying that tradition forward. Together, they have enjoyed success at Ulster and All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil competitions and they enjoy teaching music and playing at festivals throughout Ireland and further afield.
