About
The Meehan family hail from Madden, County Armagh, and are deeply rooted in the rich musical traditions of South Ulster. Raised within the vibrant culture of the Armagh Pipers Club, the family learned from some of the finest musicians and tradition bearers of the region, with music forming part of daily life from an early age. Their sound reflects the deep connection and instinctive understanding that comes from a lifetime of playing together as a family, shaped by the strong flute and piping traditions of the area.
At the heart of the family is Martin Meehan, respected flute player, former long-time tutor with the Armagh Pipers Club, and recording artist with two solo albums to his name. Alongside him are Patrick on bodhrán and flute, Donall on accordion and piano, Dominic on uilleann pipes and whistle, Manus on guitar and harp, and Sorcha on fiddle. Together, the Meehans bring a powerful yet sensitive approach to traditional Irish music, combining driving rhythm, rich musical heritage, and a sound firmly rooted in place, family, and tradition.
