Donegal Houton Picture

About

Donegal sisters, Paula and Melanie Houton from the Inishowen Peninsula, are two of the finest musicians of their generation. Bringing the traditional pairing of fiddle and flute/whistle to a contemporary audience, "they are both masters of their instruments with
impeccable taste in their music" according to Altan's Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh.
Their musical journey has brought them throughout Ireland and further afield, with international performances in countries such as India, Romania & Syria. They have played at festivals including Celtic Connections, Ennis Trad Fest, Belfast Trad Fest, Earagail Arts Festival and Feile na hInse. Paula and Melanie have enjoyed success in competitions at both
national and international levels and they have been featured regularly on television programmes such as Trad ar Fad (BBC), Geantraí (TG4) and Fleadh Cheoil (RTE).
In 2019 they released their debut album 'A Snapshot in Time' which is a culmination of old and new traditional tunes including several of their own compositions.
Paula and Melanie are honoured to be representing Co. Donegal at the Families of Ulster event as part of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Belfast.
