About
The Hinch Distillery sits in the heart of the County Down countryside. Visitors have the opportunity to learn about local distilling traditions on guided tours.
Everything has been designed not only to produce world class whiskey and gin, but also to provide visitors an up-close view of the whole process. Upon arrival you will be met by one of Hinch's professionally trained tour guides. Your guide will take you on a fun, informative and hands-on journey starting in the beautiful Ingredients Room, then to the impressive Mash House, Still House and Spectrum Room. Finally you will be invited to relax in one of their tasting rooms where you will have a chance to sample some wonderful whiskeys, inspired by the distilling traditions and skills exchanged over the centuries during the ebb and flow of Gaelic peoples across the Irish Sea. You will gain an appreciation for the skills and craftsmanship required to make world renowned Irish whiskey and of course have an opportunity to ask questions.
There are two tasting tours to choose from lasting approximately one hour each. Of course, Hinch Distillery is also renowned for producing the multi-award winning Ninth Wave Irish Gin, which is inspired by a love of Irish mythology, its links to the sea and the role it has played throughout the history of this country. Hinch have designed a unique experience for gin enthusiasts. Not only do you get the opportunity to see and learn how gin is produced, the importance of the recipe development, botanical ingredients, the distilling process and a tasting, but you will also get the chance to make your own personalised gin to take home with you.
The gin school evening experience lasts approximately ninety minutes. Having made your own gin masterpiece you can order additional bottles which will be produced to your specific recipe, bottled with a personalised label and which you can arrange to collect or have delivered at a later date.
Along with their Whiskey Tours and Gin School they also have a seasonal winter offering Some Like It Hot- a Hot Toddy and Irish Coffee masterclass.
