Golden Thread Gallery is a contemporary visual art gallery and arts charity, presenting world-class exhibitions by international and local artists, including paintings, sculpture, video work and installations.

They're passionate about the power of art to improve people’s wellbeing and they celebrate creativity and connection. They strive to be a welcoming and accessible destination where each and every visitor is engaged, educated, challenged, and inspired by visual art. This year they are a finalist for the prestigious Art Fund Museum of the Year 2025, the world's biggest museum prize!

Set across two floors, their city-centre venue includes 2 large galleries, a projection room, a Community Participation & Engagement Hub, gallery giftshop and Northern Ireland’s first visual art library & archive. Entry to the gallery is free, and they provide free tea and coffee for their visitors. The gallery is just 5 minutes away from our Visit Belfast Welcome Centre.

The new Community Participation & Engagement Hub is a welcoming and creative space, open to all, where they  host free workshops, events, artist talks and community group activities. It includes a Free Library, play area and their Junior Gallery.

The gallery is an accessible venue with step-free street access, lift to the first floor, a wheelchair-accessible ground-floor bathroom, sensory guide to exhibitions and large-print versions of all gallery texts available. The library and archive room on the ground floor offers wheelchair accessible workspaces, adjustable seating, magnification aids for people with vision impairment and reading aids for people with dyslexia.
