About

A UNESCO World Heritage site, the Giant's Causeway is a magnificent, mysterious geological formation on the North East coast of County Antrim, steeped in nature, history and legend.

Created by volcanic activity more than 60 million years ago, the Giant’s Causeway is made up of around 40,000 perfectly formed basalt columns. These striking hexagonal stones inspired the legend of Finn McCool, the giant who is said to have built the Causeway as a path to Scotland. Within easy reach of Belfast, Derry-Londonderry and even Dublin, visitors today can walk across the famous stones, explore the rugged coastal paths and enjoy views that stretch across the sea towards Scotland on a clear day.

The Visitor Experience

A trip to the Giant's Causeway is more than just seeing the stones...

The Visitor Experience includes half-hourly guided tours led by an expert team of award-winning storytellers, access to the Visitor Centre interpretation and exhibition area, a shop in which over 80% of the produce is made locally on the island of Ireland, a cafe, use of audio guides available in 11 languages, reserved on-site parking and full use of all facilities.

Booking your visit

For the best rates, pre-book your Visitor Experience tickets via the official Giant’s Causeway website prior to travelling to the site. Pre-booking in advance helps the team to prepare for your arrival and to spread visitor numbers more evenly throughout the day, improving everyone’s experience.
